Ok, well let me first start out by saying that Chad Henne will not start this year and to any of those who think he will, please give me a reason as to why he should...thank you. If we start Henne, it will be the same train wreck as Beck was last year. The rookie year is always hard to start in and especially, especially at the quarterback position. I am not saying that Henne won't start sometime later in the year, because that is a possibility if the Dolphins don't start out the season on a positive note. Also, you guys do realize that Henne and Beck are essentially the same players. Both are tough, Henne may have the edge their, and they are both 6 foot 2 inches around 225-230 pounds with rocket arms. Now, who are we going to start, the rookie or the one year veteran who has thrown over 7,000 passes this offseason and gained 15 pounds of muscle. Thank you and good night to that topic.
Now that we cleared that up it's to the REAL quarterback competition. It's between John Beck and Josh McCown. In my opinion the clear option to start should be John Beck. Lets face it, Josh McCown is always going to be a solid career backup quarterback. Not to mention the fact that Beck is 27 years old and is in only his second season. We need to see what this guy has. Beck has shown that he is determined to win this job and lead this team to victories. Over the offseason he has been in the weight room constantly and has already learnt the offense as said by Sporano. One of the main problems with Beck last year were the fumbles. The main reason of those fumbles was one, because he was a rookie, and two, because even before the ball got to him there were men breaking through the line and getting in his face. Now with this new and improved offensive line and running game, he will have time to look for Ginn down the field, or Wilford across the middle. Did you realize that when Cleo Lemon completed that 50 yard pass to Ginn, he actually had time to throw and let the play develop. Just by adding a couple players the whole passing game has been improved. By adding Ricky you always have to watch the run, and with Jake Long blocking the left side, Beck will instantly improve his accuracy and have less fumbles. You're probably saying, it's not that easy, but honestly it is.
Whoever thinks that Josh McCown should start show just go look at his stats for his career. He is not a starting quarterback, but he is a good player to fill in when someone gets injured. This season will answer a lot of questions. If Beck shows that he can lead this team to wins and play great, then that changes everything. Henne will be on the trading block, even though we probably wouldnt get much for him. This is my opinion and just wanted to know what you guys thought. Thanks!
